The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray and this is because they discovered that all of Jesus prayers brings answers.(Luke11:1)

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

You don't know how to pray by praying, you know how to pray by learning it.

DEFINITION OF TERMS.

1)Principle: This means guiding rules that makes something effective. These are the rules or demands to prayer that must be followed, if you must have answers to prayers.

2)Prayer: Is a communication or communion with God. It also means asking and receiving help from above. It is asking God to intervene in a given situation, on the basis of his work.

3)Principle of answered prayer: This means the basic truth or guidelines that establishes the proper foundation for a Christian to pray and receive answers.

THE MODEL PRAYER.

Matthew 6:9-13
After this manner therefore pray after ye, our father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever, Amen.

KINDS OF PRAYER.

1)Prayer of praise and worship: In this kind of prayer, you are not making request to God but you are only praising and rendering worship to him.(Psalm 22:3)

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Isreal.

2)Prayer in the spirit: Using tongues to offer prayers unto God. Jesus operated in this prayer. This is the most effective of all kinds of prayer because it involves the holy ghost directly praying, through spiritual language.(Psalm 81:10).

3)Prayer of dedication or consecration: This is the prayer applicable when you are totally handling over a person, thing or desires to God.

WHERE AND WHEN TO PRAY.

There is no restriction to where prayer can be said, because God is omnipresent and he is everywhere. Therefore, praying can happen anywhere, hence God and man is present. We can pray anywhere we find ourselves. Everytime is a prayer time, it is not when tragedy or challenges come you pray, prayer should be always.(1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Pray without ceasing.

Call to action.

Prayer can't work without faith backing it up. God answers prayers that are vivid and sincere. Pray at least one hour a day if are in need, ask him, he will answer. It may tarry but he will surely answer.
