Life hack!

Life hack: live in a neighborhood where people voluntarily put up flags on holidays like the 4th of July….without any compulsion or mandatory HOA.

There is nothing inherent in plastic American flags (let’s be honest probably made in China) that make a neighborhood a great place to live, but they’re a terrific proxy for the overall CULTURE of the community: do people care?

Do they care enough about the neighborhood to voluntarily invest in its vibe without being forced to by an HOA? Like I said, it’s a proxy. It’s correlation, not causation.

But if you live in a neighborhood like this, as I do, you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing that your neighbors will ALSO take care of their lawns, maintain a reasonable level of curb appeal, and make necessary improvements to their homes as they inevitably age. All of this stabilizes property values, which are intrinsically linked to the intangible “feel” of a neighborhood. It’s fuzzy ROI.

And it’s undeniable 🇺🇸
