All i can think of is the Betamax vs. vhs idea.
beta was better but vhs had porn so beta dies out just like blue ray disks and hddvd. porn came on blue ray so hddvd died out.
You seriously think sony could control what got recorded on betamax tapes? Or that toshiba could control what got distributed on HD-DVD. I mean seriously did you even take a half a second to think critically about what you were writing. because its pretty absurd (and also patently untrue).
Betamax died because, although it provided slightly better playback, machines were way more expensive and for most of the time betamax was in production, tapes could only record an hour of programming (vhs started at 2 hours).
By the time sony pulled their head out of their asses and managed to increase playback length, it was already too late.
Blu-ray is just superior to HDDVD. More storage, all the consoles adopted it. Literally nothing to do with porn. Beyond absurd to suggest it was.
I have not said Sony controled what was put on the disks or tapes, only that because porn came out on the other formats they then won the format wars.
You must live in a world of denial. do a little research, porn had a lot to do with it. Can you give me one format that died out because they were the main carrier of porn? or are we just negating that whole side of the facts because it does not fit your narrative? I would think if your argument was true you could show an example that fits in the same catagory that shows that porn is not a influence on it.
Calling it absurd and untrue, I would like citation please showing it is untrue after that I would love to hear how it is "absurd" as again this is another one of your negative vague subjective terms that means nothing except "fweelings".

You're the one making an affirmative claim (with zero evidence), i should think its on you to prove that porn had a significant impact on the emergence of blu-ray and vhs as a dominant format. SO you say something idiotic, and if i can't prove the negative, its true. Nice try.
Youre making a spurious correlation. Yes, HD-DVD and betamax died. And yes, both had less porn on them than Blu-ray and VHS.They also probably had less sci-fi. And fewer romantic comedies. There were probably also fewer documentaries. BEcause fewer movie studios used it. Because of the length issues (see size does matter) and because more people owned the (cheaper) VHS format players.
That is to say, the serious problems with the format caused them to have less porn (and everything else) and also caused them to fail. You are making an argument to causation --- that betamax was less friendly to porn and that made it less appealing which ultimately led to them losing the video cassette market. However, the only reason there was less porn on beta was because there was less everything, because it was already losing the format war.
Same with HDDVD and Blu-ray. Yeah, there was less porn. There were also less video games, less non-porn movies less everything.
Your argument is as ridiculous as saying "Well there was less porn in the soviet union, thats why it failed" Yes, america did have more porn. And also more of everything else. The soviet union had less because of its many fundamental problems. The paucity of porn was an effect, not a cause.
