The training routine overhaul

Ok, this is going to hurt a lot. I have some specific goals I ideally need to reach, and in order to get there some changes are in order. So here's the deal: On average I work out 4 days per week, primarily powerlifting. As a medic I need to be able to maintain the ability to lift heavy patients, and if I get lazy about my routine then it's too easy to get injured during work. Each day that I'm working my gym routine it has been for about an hour or an hour and a half. One of my goals is to be able to deadlift double my weight. I'm not a big girl, so I don't weigh much-- only 110 lbs, but it's still hard work to pull twice that if you're my size! (STOP laughing!!!)

So here's what's changing this week, in order to bring in some bigger numbers:

-First, instead of meeting with my trainer only once in two weeks, I'm going to be working with a team of 4 people, twice a week. Probably Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each of these people will be instrumental and helpful in different ways.

-Next, I intend to upgrade some of my equipment. My basement gym is convenient, but at this point some items are inadequate. (As you can clearly tell by the first picture. This bit of machinery looks a bit more inspiring, in my opinion!)

-Here's the really tricky part: Blocking out larger chunks of time for more thorough sessions. Probably looking at 2 hours instead of 1 each time. This is going to cost me.

-Finally, to go along with this I am including some new rewarding smoothie recipes to better fuel my cells for all this hard work. I am reevaluating some of the stuff I've been eating and replacing it with living food. More raw veggies, better protein sources. Still working on the details of the menu plan, but I know that laziness has got to go. This will likely mean more kitchen time instead of fast solutions.

Here’s the smoothie I made today that was pretty good. 1 cup almond milk, 1tbsp bee pollen, 1/2 cup water melon, 3tbsp hemp hearts, 1 oz almonds, 1 oz cashews, 1tbsp coconut sugar, 200g of strawberries, 100g of blackberries, 100g of raspberry, 70g cherry, 70g pineapple, 1/4tsp turmeric, 10g glutamine, 50g avocado, 1cup egg whites.

It makes about 3 mason jars full.

I recently heard someone say that my convictions and my convenience don't live on the same block. This action plan is certainly not convenient, and anything BUT comfortable. It's miserable and inspiring at the same time. Maybe not to you, but in my world it sure is. I have actually been avoiding this much committment for a while. But here goes! Having just started in with this in the last couple days I will admit to being always sore (to be expected) and sleeping more. So what do you think? Can I do it?

Wow! You have great dedication to your work, which is helping people! Keep up the great work. That smoothy sounds nice, had to look up hemp hearts, I just call them seeds ;p

Hey thanks. This has certainly not been comfortable! yeah, try the smoothie. Or some variation of it that works for you!

That is some dedication for work! You are not called stonemaiden for no reason :) Thanks for sharing and keep pumping!

Ah, well, that nickname stuck ages ago because I was a stone sculptor first.

Ok, i thought because you are deadlifting twice your weight :)

Oooh.. not quite there yet... Maybe with a couple of months of consistent work. ;)

Glad to see you know you have to put in the work to get what you want from reading what you have written I think you are driven and will definitely secede I would wish you luck but you don’t need it you have all that it takes already

Haha! Thanks man. I trust that in the right time a door will open for you. If you're stressing about it, that gives the situation negative power. If you can find peace in who you are and what you have to offer, then you can allow good things to unfold before you without trying to make anything happen. I'm believing for you.

Thank you

nice to see your keeping fit -and i used to do some climbing when i was a teenager - also i see your a drummer, i am a guitarist songwriter too. Upvoting #cof

Thanks bro! Lots in common, nice!

I think your Awesome and yea you totally can do it.
I hope to get to a place where I can do kitchen and not fast solutions..

Thanks bro! Hey maybe you can find some simple combinations and recipes that you really like and look forward to. I bet that would help!

Still working on my foundation for making music, it does not give a lot of space to other things. It takes a lot to get a song from beginning to end.
It is quite intense of a process to the finished product..

You're quite right there. The creative process can be wonderfully consuming. There's no shortcut to finding gold in your music; the deeper you dig the better the results. Process is just as valuable as the results, maybe even more valuable. One moment it's frustrating, then it's brilliant. Keep going!

You can do it!!

Ha! Thanks for the vote of confidence!

great job you look determined standing there.. keep up the good work upvoted

It still hurts me to walk up a few stairs 😂 I have plenty of convictions but not enough energy to make my health any better. First would be to quit smoking... so I never get past the first step haha!

Do it! Quit now! I recently did, and after a week of not leaving the farm house I can definitely say I am happier, healthier and more productive!

Ugh. It hurts just thinking about quitting... I’ve been smoking for ... 22 years ish. Never while I was pregnant tho! Neverrrr.

Hit itt!

Good luck to you on the gains you have planned!

Thanks very much!
