Does cardio burn muscle?

Most Fitness Fanatics define themselves as either runners or lifters. If you categorize yourself in the latter camp, then you're probably most comfortable clanking weights, slamming through supersets. Cardio? It's not for you - so you think.

But believe me cardio is important. It's a MYTH that cardio reduces muscle mass. There are two types of running. Sprint running and there is Marathon.

Have you ever noticed that sprinters have muscle mass more than fitness models. Why? They eat like a champion. It all depends on your calorie intake.

On the other hand people who participates in marathons, comparatively have small chest, arms, thighs since they run like for hours.

When you run that much your body is in catabloic state. In that state your body uses muscle as a fuel. When you sprint your body uses fat as a fuel.

So my recommendation is if you want to lose fat and maintain muscle at the same time, do sprint running not more than 20 min a day, 3 days a week.

You will see significant changes in yourself because that will reduce your liquid weight which makes you feel heavy and bloated. If you want to perform cardio everyday make sure your PROTEIN intake is high and your calories are intact.

Love the content. I'm a gym rat so this definitely speaks to me. I mix things up with weights and cardio. Lots of HIIT lately which helps me keep on my muscle, like you said. Heavy weight trainging days mixed with Hypertrophy. Keep up the posts. Definitely gonna follow 😊
