What are some good strength training exercises for kids?
Babies and toddlers mostly spend a lot of time, which I will say are awful periods. They are always strapped into car seats and dumped in front of the TV all day. And you know, this is a terrible phenomenon that greatly has a negative impact on kids with such daily routine. A good habit of scheduled physical activity is the only solution. And, it's never too early to start. This write-up has got a lot to offer not only for the kid, but also the parents too.
Here are a few I think are good enough to improve a kid’s strength
Calf and thigh build
You do this while standing; stand on your toes for 20 seconds, then come lower and stay for 30 seconds. Lower again for 15 seconds. Stand upright and repeat the process after a 20 seconds rest.
Bench step-ups
Help step his/her right foot up onto a low bench, and start bouncing on the left while on your toe. Do this counting fifteen, rest your leg for a few seconds then your left leg again. Repeat this for about eight to ten times. It's mainly for the calf.
Pavement step-ups
Help step his/her right foot up onto a lowly raised pavement, and start changing the legs (running at a spot) while raising your legs. This enhances the cardiac output, improve stamina and strengthen the legs.
Thigh Burp
Stand up, squat down (on your toes) while your hands are placed on the ground, maintain the position for 20 seconds. Stand up for a little time, and then repeat the movement for about 20 times. This helps improve your thighs.
Stamina Build
Stand up, squat down (on your toes) while your hands are balanced on the ground, maintain the position for 20 seconds, and then jump up. Repeat this for about 10 times. This helps your balance.
Crab walks
Balance her to her knees bent and feet placed flat on the ground; help position her palms behind her, while on the ground. Start walking sideways, then move to the front, and finalize the exercise by moving backwards. You will have to help show her how to lift her hips a few inches and walk on her hands, and not drag them. This helps the arms, hip and body joints.
Leopard toe touch
Position her as a leopard (I don’t mean to say this, but it is for her own good) Lol. Help teach her how a leopard walks. By doing this, you help not only her physique, but also ease her of any stress. During exercise, it’s advisable we engage in funny acts sometimes.
Standing against a wall
Raise a leg while standing using a wall as a support. Make it a game and see who can hold it the longest. Then change your position trying the other leg.
Push-up
Get into a position, placing your hands and toes on the ground, and lower your chest toward the ground by bending your elbows, then push back up.
Sit-up
Straighten your legs, with your back lay on the floor. Then raise it up without losing your actual position, then repeat this for about 10 times.
These exercises help build strength by just using your own body weight, I think that’s cool to hear, right? They're perfect for kids and the whole family to be in good shape together. How is it possible for a lazy father to achieve all these daily? Can you help your child get these done on a daily basis? I recommend you take at least an hour out of your day and help your child grow.
A workout doesn't require you to set aside all day by running laps or lifting weights all through, think of it as a lifestyle, which can be achieved with your kids, and you'll be able to get fit more than you think.
As a bonus, exercise with family does double duty not only to your health but also your emotion. Let these creative ideas assist you by utilizing some time in your daily activities as an opportunity to get fit and have fun together.
