It sounds silly, but it works. When Dr. Alan R. Hirsch of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago tested him on 3,000 volunteers, he found that people who smelled their food more frequently than others were less hungry and had lost more Weight, on average 12 kg each. One theory suggests that sniffing food suggests that the brain is eaten.

A study has shown that eating in front of a mirror reduces the amount of food ingested by almost a third. It seems that looking at you reminds you of your own standards and goals, and reminds you of the reasons why you are trying to lose weight.

          . Surround yourself with blue in order to lose weight

There is a good reason for this and you will see few fast-painted dining rooms painted blue: believe it or not, the blue color is effective as an appetite suppressant. So, serve dinner in blue plates, wear blue clothes during the meal and cover the table with a blue tablecloth. Conversely, avoid red, yellow and orange in your dining room. These colors stimulate appetite.

"Taking pictures of what you eat, then watching them, makes you think before you eat," says nutritionist Joan Salge Blake. No need for equipment: your cell phone does the trick. Think about it: you are at the salad counter to compose a dish of vegetables. Do not rejoice too fast, however. A photograph of your plate and you will realize that you have "complemented with cheese or fried croutons", says Joan. A simple visual reminder might be what it takes, the next time, to stop you from adding a ladle of blue cheese sauce in order to have a healthier plate.
