How to chose a right trainer

Having worked in fitness and health industry around the world over 2 decades as a trainer / coach I have seen a massive decline in quality of training and client overall development.

In this short article I would like to advise you on how you can avoid pitfalls and mistakes contracting a wrong / inadequate trainer or coach.

There are so called "cowboys" in every trade and believe or not the fitness industry is not an exception. So...you don't have a necessary experience or knowledge how to start your fitness journey right way. You have read numerous publications, did your research, watched instructional videos, you even follow some YouTube and Instagram influencers to give you the that gudiance you seek...hmm, it still does not do the job.

We are talking about proper guidance here... education and skills duplication!! That needs to be performed by someone who doesn't just poses the knowledge but someone who knows how to properly apply it to anyone...someone who breathes and lives fitness 24/7, someone who knows how to structure and deliver effective training programs either for beginners as well as to professional athletes....and lastly someone who is mature, fun, dependable, reliable, great communicator with a vast range of experiences.

When you go for your very first assessment / meeting / session you should be fully prepared to ask your future trainer some relevant questions to ultimately determine his / her's suitability.

The test should consist of a very basic, job knowledge questions, onsite reference and education background checks, questions on training program, approach and progression, what can you expect to feel and see in 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 weeks, check the communication level and its fluidity by trainer elaborating on some random matters for at least 10 minutes ...and most importantly check if the trainer is a prime example or a true representation of fitness and health by his / he appearance. As much as it may seems very unfair to do this...I honestly believe that the trainer should be walking health and fitness billboard, radiating the energy and zest for continuous improvement....and looks like either amateur or pro athlete!!!

Having a great coach / trainer / PT / mentor is one of the best investment you can possibly make ...the most exciting and fruitful one if you make a right decision.
