I hate working out So I bought a gym membership
I know, perfectly logical, don't you think? Sometimes I wonder about my own thought processes. I mean, who buys a gym membership to a place they dread going every week? Let me try to explain...
Health
These stones sit on my desk...Love...Success...Health. I turn over the one I am focusing on at any given moment.
In September, my husband and I started taking a weekly workout class, every Thursday, until the end of this month. I can't stand it. At first, I would remember on Wednesday night that the next was Thursday, and I would start to dread going to workout. Thursday became my least favourite day of the week. Lately, I have come to dislike Wednesdays, because it is the day before Thursday.
So, why would someone who dislikes their workout so much decide to buy a membership and go more frequently? Well, it is not the exercise I dislike so much. It's not even the instructor, she is quite nice, supportive and encouraging. It is the particular style of the class that I can't seem to wrap my head around. I feel like I am always trying to keep up, that I am not coordinated enough, that it is not my thing.
I want to love exercise. I want to look forward to it. I want to be one of those people. So, I decided I needed to change things. First of all, I have a low tolerance for repetition...I am easily bored. A membership will allow me to do something different every time I go. And this way, Vadim and I can schedule times we go together, and times we go on our own, so we can each get what we need.
And I want to work at my own pace. There is no pressure in our class to keep up with the super-fit people, but when everyone around you is much stronger, it is hard to stay motivated, for me anyway. And there aren't a lot of classes for beginners. Now I can work at my own level, and push myself to my own limit.
There are two other reasons we decided to become "members". Scheduling...as entrepreneurs, we don't always know what days or times are going to work for us to workout. Setting an example for our nephews...we bought them memberships too. This particular facility has pools and ice skating and gymnasiums and a climbing wall. Lots of fun stuff for the family. We would like them to grow up thinking exercise and activity are part of their everyday life. That way, maybe they won't have to go through what we are going through when they are adults.
I am just hoping that I can maintain my enthusiasm and commitment to this new plan. I will keep you posted.
Hey, maybe going once a week with the nephew would create huge motivation while strengthening the family bonds!?! By the sound of it, you are the type of person who would gain an awful lot form going ecstatic dancing or maybe you'd like to do some acro-yoga with your partner??? That would be great for someone who doesn't like the repetition and monotony of that kind of regimen.
Anyhow, keep on thriving and may the force stay with you. All for one and one for all! Namaste :)
thank you for your opinion, it is important for me)
It can be an addiction, the better you feel the more you want to keep that feeling. So many give in to the aches and pains of sedentary-ism, when they would feel better and enjoy the new them with working out. Good luck to youand your commitment to a better you.
thank you)
