Back to the Gym - Finally Some Starting Pics!

in #fitness6 years ago

I've posted a bit about my goals for this year. It hasn't been an easy start so far to get into a proper routine. Holidays, GRE study, getting drunk to celebrate finishing my GRE study, it's all been off kilter to start the year. Next week I'll be traveling to Miami for Loveburn, the two weeks after that I'll be in Denver to finally snowboard on a real mountian (Poconos are ok, if you like short icy runs). I talked a bit in my post about goals about there is this push and pull between wanting to really strive to make your goals and progress and real life and all the other wonderfull things that go on. You may not be able to stick to the plan you envisioned, but every day you get there is an improvement over a day you didn't. Either way, progress isn't linear. Last week I thought I was surely not going to be able to deadlift for another month because my lower back still didn't feel right. This week I feel great and I'm going to give myself a test run on Thursday (doing no more than 225 though). This week I'll make my 4 days in the gym, next week I'll make 2 or 3 and spend the rest of the time on the beach in Miami (I know, poor me). The key is to take what life throws at you, and just be flexible and make the most of the opportunties you do get. Thankfully after Denver I really should be able to settle in for the next few months on my routine, but then again, I can't turn down any amazing opportunities that come up in other parts of my life too.

I sort of regret not taking progress pictures at the start of my fitness journey two years ago. I would love to be able to compare between then and now. As you can see, I'm a decent part of the way there, and I'm really excitied to see the results when I do hit the 1000 pound club. Here I am as of today at 6'1", 180 pounds:

I'm really trying to bulk more to assist in my lifting goals, but I can't wait to see my post cut pictures after getting there. Coinsidentally that should be right around my birthday or wedding, so I'll be either ending 30 on a strong note, or giving my fiance a pretty fantastic wedding night ;) . Either way, I'm sure it will be a journey to get there and I'm glad I get to share it with the Steemit community!

Shout out to @steemmatt for his fitness reps challenge and it introducing me to some of the others in the fitness community on here. Keep those reps going!

Looking forward to following the journey
