A Biblical look at a River of Life from a Fly Fisherman's Prospective

in #fishing7 years ago (edited)

As we approach spring time and Fly Fishing is just around the corner my mind to the lessons we can gain from the River that surrounds us when we are fishing and I think of a different river which flows with living water. This river gives life wherever it flows. “And it shall come to pass, that ever thing that liveth, which moveth, withersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.” (Ezekiel 47:9 KJV) So when we are thirsty and feeling dry spiritually may the next time we hit the river seek after the water that will quench our thirst for all eternity and that is the living water that flows from Emanuel’s vanes. There is water where we will never again thirst and the only one that can give us that water to drink is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

It is through Christ alone that we find our completeness and it is through His Word where we will never thirst for truth because Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)
To close this blog post it seems appropriate to close it with this video from YouTube of the chorus “Let the River Flow” by Darrell Evens.

Thanks for the post. You might want to look at the tag myhuntingfishing. All of our type of posts in one place. Interesting idea. Best!

By the way, I forgot to ask. You must do some bowhunting eh?

Yes I do Bowhunt a bit. 😄 It has been my passion for 34 years now. I used to shot pro archery tournaments as well. My passion is hunting Whitetails.

Wow, I would say that we have a lot in common. I was a tournament archer also. Curious where and when you shot? And, I sure do miss those whitetails...

I competed in Maine Tournaments and Florida Tournaments years ago. I found it a lot of fun myself. 😁 It is awesome that I have this in common with someone.

I was pretty serious about shooting in the early and mid 1970's. We really had some shooters in our clubs in South Jersey. I did compete in many state, regional, and national tournaments, including the national's in Jay, Vermont, as I remember. Actually, that is how I managed to move to Colorado. I shot the national's at Golden, Colorado, and I did not want to leave. Imagine that? I am just a bowhunter now.

It's been many years since I have. But it would be fun to give another whirl some day.

Happy to do it. Welcome!

Thank you for the advise I just updated it.

Thank you for giving the opportunity to.

Amen brother :) Also looking to doing some more fly fishing soon!
