SkinnyMedic - DO YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO TREAT THAT PATIENT?

in #firstaid7 years ago

This is the first time I have shared another's YouTube video on a Steemit post. However, the information contained within SkinnyMedic's latest YouTube video is so useful that I want to help spread the word to others on Steemit who may not be aware of him.

The below video is a great listen to properly inform yourself along the lines of consent of treating an individual or for offering First Aid. This is a point that many of us may not have thought of.

"Can I help people who are unconscious?"
"What about children?"
"What if I am told to help someone by another person?"

These are the kinds of questions and topics covered by SkinnyMedic in his video.

Give it a look-see, and if you're a YouTuber, consider subscribing to him and supporting his efforts if you feel so lead.

Until next time,
@greenacrehome

SkinnyMedic is good. Haven't watched him for a while since I started on steemit.

It would be good to get him here on steemit.

I have been one of his subscribers for a few years now. He delivers some very good information in his videos. One of the main problems I have seen in real life trauma incidents as a hospital guard, has been an unconscious patient that was treated in the field by a passerby of an accident before emergency services arrived on the seen was sued by the patient. Not for the quality of the basic life saving treatment he received, but because the patient was unable to give consent for the treatment.
some states will prosecute bystanders for not giving aid to an unconscious person if they are on the seen before emergency services arrive. It becomes a catch twenty two situation, give aid and possibly get sued or withhold aid and go to jail for negligence. Punishment for being a good Samaritan, only mans law can create such a stupid situation.

That’s a very good point. I suggest anyone to search their local laws regarding the Good Samaritan subject. Thankfully my state laws protect me:

“The North Carolina Good Samaritan law states that any person who renders first aid or emergency assistance at the scene of an accident to any person injured as a result of the accident cannot be liable in civil action for their acts or omissions unless there was wanton conduct or intentional wrongdoing.”
