How are solid timber houses react to fire ?
People usually think that living in an solid timber house exposes them to higher fire risks.
As the following video shows, this is actually not the case. Due to the inherent insulation properties of wood, the fire on one side of a wall is not affecting the other side of the wall. Think of a brick wall and how the temperature on the non fire wall increases rapidly and ignites everything quickly. This then helps to spread the fire.
Living in an solid timber house is from a fire perspective safer than in an brick or concrete building.
