Derek was betrayed by Terry, who is the brother of Lou, a junkie that stole money from Derek. Derek's money is the money that Terry's Uncle Jon has hidden. Terry knows that 'nobody crosses' a Bryant, that is, nobody crosses Derek and lives. So Terry has to take him out before he kills his sister, Lou.

It's okay, it is possibly a bit holey, I had a line in there abut the time Derek had been in prison that might have been more vital than I thought hahaha but hey, good learning! It is possible to make the leap over those holes lol, but let me know if you want a lift ;)
