Ooooo, oooooo I love it! You make this into an action packed story, spanning generations, where a blood debt is settled one way or another. You manage a lot of history here, and a really impressive amount of plot for the word count, i feel as though I have read so much more. The life that Terry has lived, the hardness he has faced because of the loss of his father, and how society has branded him, it comes across so well. It really gives this sense of a bond between him and his Uncle that would lead to them plotting a murder like this. I really like the ending, the empty hole, Derek getting angry and turning on the wrong person, although he was kind of set up to jump to that conclusion. There seems something fitting about the prospect of him maybe ending up in that same hole himself, although equally, I suppose, Derek may or may not have deserved this really. He most certainly doesn't seem like a good guy, but he didn't personally wrong Terry. In a way you show them to be as flawed as each other, kind seems like Mike got the butt end of this deal, but then, both him and Derek were the established killers. You tied this up so very well, it was highly entertaining <3
Yes, I handle a story with many details but it has limited the amount of words I must use, however I try to capture a little of everything I imagine, is a story that I personally imagine exciting, full of action and feelings.
