You had me worried there for quite a bit. Her life was going so badly, then up, then back to being horrible. I was sure the baby was shot there when the glass broke but in rolls the FBI! And if she has a baby that smiles through gunfire, then he will bring joy to her the rest of her life!
But @dirge is right. Can't trust the FBI either.
The baby is the pivot of change. So the smile was more appropriate than boring normality.
