A great piece with both a plausible conclusion and hope, Oivas! You're going to have me googling lighthouses (see what you've done to me, LOL) now because if they don't have lantern rooms that can become watertight then I think it's something they should consider adding to future structures. 😁

I love the determination that you gave to Hugo! Though he's in extreme peril, he still thinks to his duty as the lighthouse keeper to see to the safety of the fisherman caught out in this terrible storm. Brave and clever man, he rows to the rocks which could destroy his only haven from the waves.

A lovely piece with a terrific ending. La Sentinelle's final moments saving both its beloved keeper and those who relied upon its light. That Hugo carried on this tale with gratitude and love was beautiful.
