To Honor Old Masters - William P. Henderson

William P. Henderson, born in 1877, was an american painter, architect and furniture designer. His fellow artists called him a '' contemporary Renaissance man ''.

Henderson spent twelve years in Chicago, where he taught at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1905 he married the poet and assistant editor of Poetry Magazine Alice Corbin. They moved to New Mexico and became active participants in the growing Santa Fe art colony . Many of his sketches, pastels and paintings are inspired by the Mexican culture and the splendor of the southwest . Henderson often painted outdoors, where, under a New Mexican sky , he caught the spirit and the air of the place and captured them in his artworks.
