To Honor Old Masters - Luigi Premazzi

Luigi Premazzi was an Italian master of landscape and indoor watercolour, whose work was closely connected to the Russian Empire. Premazzi not only mastered the aerial and architectural perspectives and created a series of high - quality detailed drawings, but also painted landscapes that subtly convey different colors of nature of the north and the south.

Luigi Premazzi was born in Milan in 1814. He visited the Academy of Brera and studied Perspective Painting under Professor Giovanni Migliar.
In 1850 Emperor Nikolai I ordered a series of drawings depicting Alexandria and the fortification of Kronstadt. From this time Premazzi's rise as an artist began and he became popular in the court and in the higher circles of the aristocracy.

1861 Premazzi received the title of '' Professor in perspective watercolor painting '' and began teaching at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Since 1871 he also taught at the baron school AL Stieglitz.
Premazzi died 1891 in Constantinople and was buried in St. Petersburg.
