Launching a new direction in the midst of chaos

in #fineart4 years ago (edited)

Finding myself completly devoid of my chosen career path so suddenly due to the shutdown of the events industry in 2020 has been a journey to say the least. For the majority of my adult life i have worked as a freelance self employed lighting designer, lighting engineer, video mapper, motion graphics designer, production manager and visual artist. I'm extremely proud and grateful for the breadth and diversity of events i have built for clients over the years ranging from extensive periods of time in underground club events, Large scale corporate events like award cermonies, elaborate wedding events for the rich and famous. Working for clients in the creative industry has it's challanges for me. For example, dealing with a client that i instincly know through experience that their ideas are not only terrible, but egotisical, unrealistic and ultimately does not interest or resonate with me one bit. Thankfully, the lions share of my clients have trusted my guidance and intuition, and can now call them not just clients, but friends.

Waving goodbye to all of this is for me dealing with a Death. I've done my grieving. I'm over it. I'm sure i'll do events again. I'l still kind of doing a bit by volunteering my expertise for a local independant music and arts venue where i've sorted out their lighting rig. But it's not paying my living costs.

So, i've got to think on my feet. Determined not to get a day job for a corporate souless entity. Determined to continue to release my creativity into the wild. Over the last few months, i've put my graphic design skills to the test, pulling on all my time spent making visuals for live events, and repurposing them in the form of printed artwork. I've spent a couple of months researching and trying out different print suppliers to get the best quality products i can find. The result is i can print in the UK, US, Netherlands, and Australia to the same high quality standard with the same materials, so i can offer global shipping at reasonable cost. For all the crypto lovers, the website accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum.

So here's my new website. It's a labour of love and hope in many ways.

I'm open to other artists selling their work on this platform too, and willing to offer 70% of the profit of their sales to the artist, the other 30% i would liklely spend on online marketing. So hit me up if you are an artist that would like to sell their work to a global market! It annoys me that other platforms give such small percentages.

I'm also open to creating afflitate accounts for anyone that is interested in promoting this body of work which will expand over time, with a generous 20% take on attributed sales. Hit me up if your interested.

Peace out.
