When businesses operate, they require capital. Large businesses can issue debt and equity in the financial market to help raise capital.... the business will complete an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in order to raise the desired amount of capital in the financial markets. When shares/stock in the company is first sold in the financial markets, this is conducted and concluded in the primary market. After these shares have been issued, other investors, traders and asset managers can actively buy and sell these instruments in the secondary market....
Video 16 now covers the different markets that exist. Money markets provide short-term assets and capital markets provide long-term assets. Both are important for provide different financial products for investors to make use of.
