I liked it, but I didn't love it.
"Ghost Stories" is a British theatre adaptation that come along as some kind of anthology with 3 supernatural cases investigated by a skeptic professor.
There is also something else going on and we lern about the ghosts of the past of our lead.
There are some rare and ok jump scares and some better conventional scares but it is by far not a terrifying movie. Is is more like a supernatural crime movie with scares and the last act goes even further in this direction.
It is the effectivity of this last act that will decide if you love the movie I think. I saw it pretty early in the film and besides that for me it was nothing new and ripped off many ideas and tropes from other movies. At least it isn't really a new and fresh idea or something you've never seen before.
At the end my biggest question was:
"Why was Martin Freeman in this movie?"

Ich mag den Film, liebe ihn aber nicht.
"Ghost Stories" ist eine Adaption eines britischen Theaterstückes, dass als eine Art Anthologie daherkommt, mit 3 übernatürlichen Fällen, die von einem skeptischen Professor untersucht werden.
Es liegt auch noch etwas anderes in der Luft und wir lernen einiges über die Geister der Vergangenheit unseres Hauptdarstellers.
Es gibt einige wenige und solide jump scares und einige bessere konventionelle Erschrecker, aber "Ghost stories" ist bei weitem kein schrecklicher Film. Es ist mehr ein übernatürlicher Krimi mit einigen Erschreckern, wobei der letzte Akt sogar noch mehr in diese Richtung geht.
Ich denke es wird auch von der Effektivität das letzten Aktes abhängen ob man dieses Film nun "liebt".
Ich habe es leider ziemlich früh kommen sehen und ich finde auch, dass sich "Ghost Stories" relativ großzügig bei den Ideen anderer Filme bedient hat. Zumindest kann man nicht sagen, dass es neu und frisch ist oder, dass man so etwas nie zuvor sehen konnte.
Am Ende war meine größte Frage:
"Was hat Martin Freeman hier eigentlich gemacht?"
