Some actually good Sci-Fi movies
Metropolis
Made in Germany during the Weimar Period, Metropolis is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and follows the attempts of Freder, the wealthy son of the city's ruler, and Maria, a poor worker, to overcome the vast gulf separating the classes of their city. Filming took place in 1925 at a cost of approximately five million Reichsmarks, making it the most expensive film ever released up to that point. The motion picture's futuristic style shows the influence of the work of the Futurist Italian architect Antonio Sant'Elia. The film is as enchanting and haunting intellectually as it is visually.
Westworld
This is one of the most interesting films to wrestle with the problems inherent in creating robots that look and behave more and more like humans. Same topic comes up very differently in the brilliant ‘Blade Runner,’ but ‘Westworld’ is fun because it’s more of a Disneyland approach. I mean, what would it be like and how creepy would it be if the audio-animatronics at Disney actually walked around and interacted with you in a sophisticated manner? Then something went wrong…

Dark City
In a city controlled by aliens that feed off of people’s pasts in hopes to finding a cure for the own dying race one man wakes up and realizes that he is being controlled. People around him can be erased and given completely new identities at anytime and everyone seems alone. The city serves more as a prison for the minds of people while the streets are stalked by aliens called “strangers,” who can show up anywhere to deliver death.
Run Lola Run
Lola's boyfriend Manny works as a runner for a mobster and leaves a bag full of his employer's money on a subway train. Frantic, he calls her and says that unless he can come up with the money in the next 20 minutes, he'll have to rob a grocery store to get it. Lola heads to her father's bank to see if he can help her. At this point, the film shows three possible outcomes of Lola's attempt to get the money - not all of which necessarily result in a happy ending.
