thank you Walter :D and yes it is a lot of fun if you can find one. if you really want one most of them on ebay come from Japan, so let me know, maybe I can find one for you.
You're welcome. Sure I'll try one. How much is to pay for such a 'baby'? Well this year my budget for cameras is gone (bought during the last month a Bronica EC TL-II and a SQai ... but in January I can happen ;)
Oooh nice new gear 😁 I have a couple of bronica etrs 645s that I love with the 135w panoramic back.
A widelux can be hard to find in good working order so they range from USD 500 to 1000 for a fully tested working one. After that it's best to still send it for maintenance. I got lucky that I found mine in a local shop and so far it has been doing well.
You could try a Russian Zenit Horizon which is similar and around USD 300 on eBay to see if you like the distortion.
For the ETR and SQ I own 135 backs and focus screens too ;)
Well you are in good luck, you are in Japan, I have to pay extra fees for cameras, etc. 4,5% plus 19% vat at the customes that make it more expensiv for me.
Yes the Horizon could be an option, because they are available here in Germany.
Maybe you are interested in an colloborations? If you like, have a look at this webpage. ;)
ouch that sounds painful! there was a company from Dresden that made a swing lens called a Noblex, one of the best there is optically. I have one with problems, but the glass is amazing! you might be able to find one in your area for a reasonable amount.
I managed to get one that was in semi working condition,.... there is shutter lag as the drum turns one revolution to get up to speed before the film is exposed. great if you dont shoot people,... for people the widelux or horizon would be more instant.
still if you find one it's worth getting, the glass is smiply mind blowing!
and yes! the film swap sounds like a great idea, the overlap of the widelux and regular 35mm should make for an interesting mash up :D let's do it!
