Jared Leto tells you the truth about the Music industry

in #filmmaker7 years ago (edited)

It's safe to say we've all heard of the "30 Seconds to Mars" the band with the (also) actor Jared Leto ( Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club and many others) has a front man.

After many years of struggle they eventually broke into mainstream conscious with their ultra popular record.

The album was a huge success and after they came back home from touring the world they started talking about their next album. In the middle of that they decided to make a documentary film depicting their journey making the album.

However things did not go according to plan.

They noticed they owned the record company an tremendous amount of money. They tried to end they're contract and got sued for 30 million dollars.

And so it began ...

What was meant to be a nice documentary about their new album, turned into a colossal fight between the band and the label. While they where making their album called "This is War"

Thankfully they did not spend the little money they had made in drugs and strippers. They where smart and they took it all and set a studio at their house hired a music producer and started making the album while being sued for 30 million $.

Quite interesting.

The documentary is a in depth look at the music industry... facets that are not seen to often.

If you have any interest in the Record Label mechanics and Music in general this is a must see documentary.
