Film Review: Assassin’s Creed

in #film7 years ago

The film is based around the characters from the game by Ubisoft and is given quite low ratings in online reviews.

The start is important and is in Spanish with subtitles, so concentrate. It lays out which are the two sides in the battle and a timeline of more than 500 years.

Led by Marian Cotillard (Dr Sofia Rikkin) and her father Jeremy Irons (Alan Rikkin), using futuristic technology, they are able to look into Callum Lynch’s brain and through his bloodline to re-create one of his ancestor’s memories of the 15th century. The plan is to search through these memories to see where the Apple of Eden is hidden.

Michael Fassbender as Cal Lynch is transported back to fight the same fight his ancestor Aguilar de Nerha did against the Knights Templar in Spain. During this physical challenge, he also learns the lost skills required to take on a modern Templar organisation.

The movie is very very fast action and I bet Michael slept well each night after filming.

It’s dark in places but well filmed and superbly made. The thing that reduces its star rating for me was the poor sound track. The music is great, but sometimes needed to be turned down so we could hear what people said. Some of the talking required a few re-winds to make it out.

They need to make these things for both cinema and TV viewing.

7/10 for this one. Well worth watching.
