Short review tonight.

The Package*, starring Gene Hackman and Tommy Lee Jones, came out in the 80s, one of the first directed by Andrew Davis. It is the story sergeant Gallagher, tasked with returning a military prisoner back to the United States from West Germany. The prisoner escapes and Gallagher must track him down and stop him from taking part in an assassination.

Long story short, this is a really good film. It is an action thriller that takes place towards the end of the Cold War and deals with a lot of that paranoia that came with, well, the idea that the cold war might end. Hackman is great as the put upon sergeant, Jones is great, as is all of the supporting cast. There was light of tension as a story builds towards its climax.

I just really enjoyed it.
