Rise of Turkish TV Series Industry
Turkish TV Series started to be very popular in the beginning of 2007. First, in the middle east countries, then from Latin America to Japan, including China, Russia, balkans, India and Pakistan. This success led Turkey to become world's second highest TV series exporter after US .
Turkish people are very big fan of TV Drama, but most recently they also showed big interest in historical fictions. I have to admit that at first, I though this global popularity was due to some countries having similar cultural background, but when"The Magnificent Century" and "Resurrection: Ertugrul" was broadcasted over 50 countries I realized that it was much more than that.
Some of them were remake of the American shows such as "Medcezir" which is originally known as "The O.C". It was a huge success in Balkans, Arab countries and Latin America especially in Chili. Medcezir also won Best Series Drama award on 9th Seoul Drama Awards in 2014.
Although i haven`t watched many of them, my favorite was "Ezel" so far. It was a Turkish Crime Drama, but when I say Drama I really mean it. I have to say I am not a big fan of Drama, especially Turkish Drama which involves a lot of tragedy, accidents and honourable stories, but "Ezel" became a real addiction for me shortly after started to watch it. What is so strang about this series is that most series get worse when in the middle or end of the story, but "Ezel" started slow and got better and better by each episode.
Today, Turkey is the second biggest exporter of TV series in the world. The shows are sold to about 100 countires with over $350 million revenue just this year alone(According to the Turkish Exporters Assembly data), and these numbers continue to rise.

Turk Dizi Endustrisinin Yukselisi:
Turk dizileri 2007 yilinin baslarinda populerlik kazanmaya basladi. Once orta dogu ulkelerinde dikkat cekmeye baslayan yapimlar daha sonralari Latin Amerika kitasindan Japonya´ya, Cin ve Balkanlara, Rusya´ya, hatta Hindistan ve Pakistan´da izlenmeye basladi. Bu ilgi Turkye´nin Amerika´dan sonra dunyanin en cok dizi ihrac eden ikinci ulke olmasini sagladi.
Turk insani drama dizilerini gercekten cok seviyor, son yillarda tarihi olaylarin konu alindigi dizilere de buyuk bir ilgi basladi. Kabul etmeliyim ki, ben bu uluslarasi ilgiyi ilk once o ulkelerdeki kulturel benzerliklere baglamistim. Fakat "Muhtesem Yuzyil" ve "Dirilis: Ertugrul" dizisi 50´den fazla ulkede izlenmeye baslayinca yanildigimi anladim.
Bazi yapimlar daha onceki yabanci dizilerin Turkiye´de yeniden uyarlanmasiyla basari sagladi. Mesela Amerika´da The O.C. olarak bilinen dunyaca unlu dizi, ulkemizde "Medcezir" adiyla hazirlanip izleyiciye sunuldu. Dizi Balkanlar, Arap ulkeleri ve Latin Amerika´da buyuk begeni topladi, ozellikle Sili´nin diziye cok buyuk ilgi gosterdigi goruldu. Ayni zamanda Guney Kore´nin baskenti Seul´de duzenlenen 9. Uluslararası Seul Drama Ödülleri'nde En İyi Dizi dalinda odulun sahibi oldu. Guney Koreli drama severlerin dizimize gosterdigi buyuk ilgi gercekten sasirtici ve mutlu edici bir olaydi.
Dizilerin tamamini izlememis olmama ragmen aralarinda bir tanesi gercekten acik ara favorim. Drama/Suc dizisi "Ezel". Tabi drama dedikleri gercekten de boyle olsa gerek. Acikcasi Turk yapimi dizilerin cogunda agir drama ve trajedi oldugunu dusunen ve bundan cok fazla haz etmeyen biri olmama ragmen bu dizi bende gercek bir bagimlilik yaratti. Enteresan tarafi, diziler genelde bolumler ilerledikce monotonlasip, keyif vermemeye baslayan ve heyecanini yitiren bir hal alir. Ama "Ezel" bundan farkli olarak cok daha heyecanli ve guzel bir hal aldi. Yavas baslayan dizi ilerledikce daha yukseklere tasidi basarisini.
Sadece bu yilin verileri, Turkiye´nin 100´un uzerinde ulkeye pazarladigi diziler sayesinde 350 milyon dolari asan ihracat geliri elde ettigini gosteriyor ve bu rakamlar yukselmeye devam ediyor.
