Whenever I am uninterested about life, I tend to do things that are unproductive. It's that kind of a feeling that you don't want to have. And that's why fictions like movies and books helps us get inspiration for our life and live a hopeful life. Movies are much popular than books because they are easy to consume and they enrich our senses. It's almost like drugs. 

By looking at the title you might be thinking I’m absolutely crazy for imagining something like that. But, most of the time things happen without warning. So, how can a trillion dollar industry die? This is not something that will happen in a few years, it might take decades. Here are the few things that worries me about the future of movies:

Decreasing attention span:

Well there was a time when the standard runtime of the movies was 2 hours and 30 mins. But, because of the bombardment of short videos to everyone had drastically decreased the attention span. This intern reduced the runtime of the movies. 

Increased production value of television:

There was a time when television was considered very small compared to movies. So, there wasn't a lot of money on the table for television show makers. But, due to Netflix and other channels of entertainment. Television shows are becoming popular. One of the benefits of television is that it creates loyal audiences for the upcoming shows. And because of its long term approach it has the chance to gain more audience. 

The rise of franchise :

Franchises are good way to make money.  But,  in the long run it hurts the industry. Because, there's nothing new to see audience also don't care about it that much. The only way to sustain is by giving original content. 

The access and the abundance :

Now, it's so easy to get access to movies is that everything is at our fingertips. Will the value of content go down as there is now abundance of it? Only time can give us the answer. Now, its easier to change from one movie to another click of a button. This may have a influence on the longevity of the existence of the movies.
