It was one of those boring days in college. I didn't feel like I could sit anymore, I ditched my classes and came back to my dorm. I had a movie which my friend had given me. I watched the movie and it was probably the best love story I had ever watched. The movie was Her. I have watched Her about three times and I will watch it a few more times.

Directed by Spike Jonze , He takes his audience on a journey in the eyes of the character  Theodore Twombly  played by Joaquin Phoenix. Theodore is a single man who writes love letters to others to make a living.  Theodore will be very unsuccessful when it comes to relationships. The movie takes an unexpected turn when a character called Samantha enters the scene. Samantha is an AI. 

The movie is set in the future.  Theodore  will helplessly fall in love with Samantha, he will be enjoying every second of it. Imagine falling in love with Siri in your Iphone. This sounds crazy, but after watching her I felt it wasn't that crazy at all. The movie teaches us the value of companionship. Everyone needs someone to be with them throughout their life and care for them. In Theodore's case it was an AI.

Her has a very therapeutic quality in it. It is almost like hypnosis, you can feel what  Theodore is feeling. I learnt a lot about myself after watching this film. What would you do if you were in his's place? imagine your life being a routine, everyday you do the same  over and over again for years. Won't you feel terrible? Now imagine a companion who is always interacting with you throughout your day. Who is always talking to you and always caring you with her words. Its not a bad idea isn't it.

 We as human are very complicated and its in our nature. What if an AI which had no flaws in it enters into your life. She would do whatever you tell her to do, she is very interesting and she is really interested in your life and loves you. Sometimes, after looking the amount of technology we bury ourselves we may be destined to a future which might be similar to Samantha. 

Can a set of of codes inside a computer really love you like a real human being? All we can do is helplessly wait for our future to get the answer. Can love be as simple or as complicated as a set of codes inside our minds? By watching this movie I tried to answer many of this questions and ended up raising few more question while finding it answers. 

In the most subtle way the movie also looks as if its mocking at all of us. Just look at the society we live in. Most of our human interaction happens through our cellphones. We have relationships over the cellphones. We would worry more about the people inside our cellphones than the people who are sitting in front of us. An incoming message tone in our phone is much more important to us than the person in front of us. By looking at all these parameters, would it really matter if the person inside our phones is real or an AI? Are we all fed up of the way we exist. Think about it...

Lets for a moment believe that its possible to love a technology. Then, we will probably be the most terrible form of species ever to walk on this planet. Our soul purpose of our existence will be disturbed and destroyed. Would we able to stop it or would we just find a justification to cover up our weaknesses? 

The movie makes us all question our existence. If you haven't seen this movie, do watch it. Its on Netflix. By this I want to end my post. Lets all hope for a better future.
