Downfall (2004) - Lets talk film / What goes around comes around
We all know who Hitler was and we all have reasons to hate him, but still many are unsure about his death and how he died. In 2004 Oliver Hirschbiegel directed "Downfall" a movie depicting the story about last days of Hitlers life. It became one of the most controversial movies. But, I must say this is one heck of a movie. The movie shows how a man who scared every one in this planet, got scared.
The movie starts off with showing real Traudl Junge who was Hitlers secretary in his last days recalling her story. This is the perspective of Traudl. We are taken back in time when Traudl who was desperate for job will be waiting with other girls to see Hitler. She will be waiting and back in the day she was in awe of Hitler. When Hitler comes and selects Traudl, it will feel like a dream to her. But, she doesn't know that soon things are going get real bad for her.
The most important thing about this film is the humanization. We all know Hitler as this huge out the world like creature and a person you don't wanna mess with. But, in this movie the we see his human side. At times you may feel pity for him. This made many filmmakers to rage against this film as it was trying to show Hitler in a pitiful way.
One scene that is etched inside my brain is what Hiter and his wife did to their children during the last days. There is a lot of pain involved. The fact that he would go to any extent to keep his legacy alive is really astounding.

I was ten or eleven years old when I saw this movie in a cinema.
It's a really good movie for a german movie. The most german movies aren't so good. Bruno Ganz is the best actor I have ever seen in the role of Hitler. =)
Good review! =)
