"The nominees for Best Motion Picture-Drama are... Black Panther... Wait. What?"
The "Golden Globes Awards" surprise everyone by nominating Black Panther as one of the Best Motion Picture of the year.
Hi Steemians, last Thursday, December 6, the nominees for the Golden Globes awards were announced, which will take place on January 6 of next year.
As is usual whenever these nominations occur in any award on film and TV, we can find many surprises for the nominees as they can always be left out any film production or any direct actor, scriptwriter or even musician and this always makes both critics and general public can feel that justice has been done for those who are nominated or that it is very unfair for those who will have to wait for their work to be recognized by people who belong to the most important awards in the show, I think that the discomfort of seeing actors, directors, scriptwriters and films out of competition will never end because for the many categories that exist there will always be a limit of nominees and that is something that for now keeps the Golden Globes as a rule.
But in the nominations for the 76th Golden Globe Awards, something unexpected happened and that was the nomination of a film based on comics, surely some who will not be informed will say that this had already happened because we always find these types of films disputing awards that have to do with sound, special effects, wardrobe, makeup, but never had been seen to dispute the awards that are considered as the most important, but all this came to an end with the nomination of the eighteenth film that belongs to MCU, Black Panther, that's how this film was a great box office success and had great acceptance by the critics and all fans and not comic fans saw how justice was done to see that finally a film of this type was accepted by one of the big film awards, but I do not know why I wonder (since I heard the news) Is deserved the nomination of Black Panther as Best Movie-Drama? I can say yes, but this would not be a statement as such, that would be so forceful if we talked about another film, because I think that this film about the king of Wakanda, could have another type of nomination, for example nominate Michael B. Jordan as "Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture ", which for me is the best written and best played character in the whole film and I must even say that Erik "Killmonger" Stevens, is one of the best characters in the whole year, another nomination that could have more options series in "Best Screenplay " where were nominated Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, I think it was much more important for the comic world to see a full nomination of their scriptwriter and the most important actor in that film.
The other problem or issue I have with this nomination is why is it done now and not done before? Surely many will say "It is that previous films did not have the quality necessary to achieve that" and I think they are wrong, I do not want to name The Dark Knight (2008) by Christopher Nolan, but it is impossible not to do so and not to be accused of "Anti-MCU ", I can say that neither was taken into account by these awards with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) or with the most recent release of this universe Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War where we also see another of the best characters of this year and surely one of the best villains in history in cinema, but if there is a comic book film where I can say that a total injustice was done, that's LOGAN (2017), this is where you lost all possibility of authenticity that could be given in an important award to this type of films, I think none of the main characters in this story should have been left out of any of these awards, they should have even received a nomination for best adapted script, best film and even best director and I'm not saying that they should have won all the awards, but they should have been nominated to show that they really care about this type of film.
I'm not saying that all these films are better than Black Panther, I'm just saying that if you take a criterion to nominate her now, I ask why wasn't it done before? Why weren't other good films given a chance where there was a lot to highlight? I think that these great prizes in the search of not disappearing, in the search of obtaining new fans, of being popular, want to obtain solutions so immediate that later when the time passes they cannot maintain and worse still, they fall in a situation that is so evident that it clouds the work of all the people who want their project to be noticed and respected by those who represent these great awards and go to history because in spite of how important it is Black Panther, I think that in the end there is no appreciation for these awards for what many people love about this film, because I think that if it were really taken into account, it would have received many nominations and not just one that is important, it encompasses everyone who was in that film, but forgets about the individual work of others.
The other thing that these awards may be doing is wanting to capture an audience that is surely taken as a minority of those who watch these shows, as you may know Black Panther most of its actors are African-American and not only that but also because of how important this film is to this community because of the positive image it shows and that is why it should always be at the top of the list of best films of MCU , but this means that you ask me another question about your nomination which is Black Panther nomination is to get a better rating? If this were to happen it would mean a total lack of respect and it would really be a pity if this happened, I think that films about comic characters have had a great importance in recent years, even though each time we see up to 4 releases of these films per year, more and more we can see how some are taken seriously and are important for many people, be it race, religion, sexuality, many times these films create an integration for many, believe that barriers are broken for any person is identified in each of these characters, That's why I'm going back to naming movies that were forgotten by these great prizes, but one of them was Wonder Woman (2017), where we first saw this hero on the big screen and I can compare the impact this film had with Black Panther, since many focus on a population that was perhaps not as valued as before and I know there have been stories where we see women do the impossible, but stories that reach a population of children and adults deserve real recognition, with respect since they have earned it.
This post is far from criticizing the nomination of Black Panther as Best Motion Picture, on the contrary, in this post I defend and make a note of how good some of the movies can be about comic characters, which do not focus only on making money as they entertain and leave a real message for the many fans that exist around the world, I think that really should be taken into account every scriptwriter, director and actor who work in each of these films and will see the great work that each of them do, should not nominate just to seek popularity, the people in charge of nominating should take some time to see the great importance of each job that all these people do and surely think I'm asking a lot, but I know that at some point will be recognized for what they are. I don't know if in the end this film will win this award, I don't know how sincere there is in this nomination, this is something that for sure many will wonder until after finishing these awards unless when they are nominated for the Oscars, let's see Black Panther be more recognized in many other nominations.
