All the latest Movieland investigations from detectives Dick japowski and Joey Arizona. The world may be in lockdown but we're still hitting the streets of Movieland hard

A Shore Thing: Celebrating everyone's favourite weasel...It's Pauly Shore Appreciation Month! with Dick Japowski.
Bio-Dome (1996)
Bud (Shore) and Doyle (Stephen Baldwin) play a couple of slobs who'll do anything they can to get out of anything which might be considered work. When their girlfriends dump them for swimmers they unwittingly find themselves getting locked in the fragile eco system of the BIO-DOME! They then have to live there for a year and learn lessons and grow as people.
I think If Baldwin was replaced with a David Spade or an actual spade this would work better for me. If you are interested in Kylie Minogue's short career in Hollywood than this could be worth a watch.

The Arizona Case Files
The Big Sick (2017)
The true life tale of comedian Kumail Nanjiani. His parents want him to marry a nice Pakistani/Muslim girl, but he falls for a heckler in the audience, as that relationship moves forward he doesn't tell his parents about her. Then when his new love is struck down by a mystery illness things start to get even more complicated.
While this is funny and heartwarming, it's the story that really makes this movie, Nanjiani dealing with his family's traditional views and his western upbringing, then also having to deal with his girlfriend's parents.

The Many Views of Detective Dick Japowski
Honey I Blew Up the Kid (1992)
Fun sequel that this time sees the toddler hit with an enlarging ray and go on a rampage in Las Vegas! This one still has the power to keep children's attention with its fun visual trickery and wacky set pieces.

The Arizona Case Files
Asterix vs Caesar (1985)
After two of their fellow villagers are captured by the the Romans, Asterix and Obelix set out to rescue them.
I used to love watching these movies as pre-academy detective, but now they seem pretty dull, and in this case a little racist.

The Many Views of Detective Dick Japowski
The Super Inframan (1975)
A man signs up to a bionics test and becomes a kung-fu kicking superhero!
Directed by The Shaw Brothers and a direct response to the growing success of Japanese tokusatsu shows such as Ultraman and Kamen Rider. This is a brisk fun watch with more rubbery monsters for your money and some great choreographed martial arts. Definitely worth a watch and a great introduction to this genre.

The Arizona Case Files
The Festival (2018)
After his girlfriend breaks up with him at graduation Nick is devastated, his best mate then convinces him to go 'generic festival 2018' to cheer him up. A try-and-get-back-together/voyage of self-discovery ensues.
Billed as from the creators of The Inbetweeners, when it is in fact only directed, and not written by, one of the shows creators, and stars one of the shows leads. The setting would have been perfect for an Inbetweeners movie. As it is it's an entertaining if average look at the festival experience, and anyone who's been to such an event will have plenty of 'that's so true' moments along the way.

The Tigger Movie.jpg

The Arizona Case Files
The Tigger Movie (2000)
While everyone else is hurriedly preparing for winter Tigger just wants to go bouncing, but when no one wants to join him he goes in search of his extended family, and hopefully some like minded individuals.
If you or your little detectives do or ever have enjoyed the adventures of Winnie the Pooh you and/or they will enjoy this too. For me the highlight was Tigger singing about his family tree, where the visuals change line by line reflecting Tiggers through the ages, there's even a nod to Jerry Springer.

A Shore Thing: Celebrating everyone's favourite weasel...It's Pauly Shore Appreciation Month! with Dick Japowski.
Pauly Shore is Dead (2003)
Feeling under appreciated and visited by the ghost of Sam Kinison, Pauly fakes his own death so he can see how the world reacts when he's gone. A funny concept that unfortunately is executed poorly. It's is a shame to end Pauly month on a wet noodle but this Hollywood love fest will make you cringe.
