Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Release Date: 21 June, 2017
What's It About: The Autobots and Decepticons, continuing their war on Earth, find themselves at the behest of a greater threat that looms above them all. The humans are caught up and must work with the Autobots and overcome their differences to fight the Decepticons.
The Good: Somehow, Transformers 5 manages to up the scale even more than previously, introducing (finally), the highest scales of magnitude in the franchise. Dark of the Moon attempted to do this but failed to capitalize on it, but The Last Knight shows alot of promise. As always, the effects are impeccable, and the creative direction is actually quite sharp. There's a much grander sense of scale in this one than there was in the previous ones.
The Bad: There's not a whole lot of human story to these films, but it's never really about them. This is a popcorn blockbuster through and through. The inclusion of the children at the start of the film annoyed me and didn't seem to serve much purpose, and there's plenty of deus ex machina to help tie plot points together.
Best Performance: Cogman, the "sociopathic" Autobot butler to to the Earl of Folgan. Cogman serves as the comic relief, and his hilarious interludes are, in my opinion, a good step up from previous attempts. He is every way larger than life and comes across more as a cartoon character than anything else.
Should I Watch It: If you're happy to turn your brain off and go into sense-only mode, you'll have a good time. The secret to watching Transformers films is to just love them for what they are and not to expect anything more. I love Transformers films and have no desire to be critical of the way they're made.

Regardless of our opinions, we all know what a Michael Bay film is. This one's his most Baysome.
