Plot

In Saint-Tropez, Juliette is a young orphan and Eric Carradine a rich and mature man who is very attracted to her, but she is in love with Antoine Tardieu, a young man who works in Toulon, but who only wants to have a brief adventure. When Juliette's guardians decide to return her to the orphanage, she decides to go with Antoine to Toulon, but he does not take her with him, so Antoine's brother, Michel Tardieu, proposes her marriage and she accepts. However, when the Tardieu family decides to sell the shipyard to Eric Carradine, Antoine returns to Saint-Tropez and Juliette's passion for him is reborn.

Opinion

The film tells the story of Juliette, a beautiful young orphan who is the center of the desire of many of the men of the town, however, her reputation is not good, her childish, promiscuous and blatantly sensual behavior provokes different emotions in those who surround her.

The first one who is attracted to her is Eric Carradine, a businessman with a lot money, and who besides owning Juliette also wants to build a Casino, but first he needs to buy a shipyard owned by the Tardieu family, composed of the mother and her three sons, two of them interested in Juliette, each in a different way, while Antoine, the older brother, wants her for a single night; Michel, the middle brother, wants to marry her, something that becomes possible when Juliette's guardians, tired of her antics, decide to send her back to the orphanage.

The film is brilliantly directed by Roger Vadim, the images he decides to show on screen are correct, the film transmits everything he wanted to convey, however, over the years the rhythm of the film is affected, the film becomes something repetitive, and every time that Brigitte Bardot leaves the screen the spectator completely loses interest in the film.

The performances are not the best, with the exception of Brigitte Bardot, who does an exceptional job, but her partners, although they do not do it badly, especially considering the time and place where the film was made, neither do they manage to convince the audience at every times.

In short, it is a job well done, but the years have diminished its effect, what seemed rebellious and sensual at that time today is not, however, still retains a certain charm.

Score

6/10

It is an interesting film, and I would recommend to see any fan of old movies, however, it would not be my best recommendation for those who just want entertainment.
