A great film. Classic. Whatever you want to call it. There aren't many films with 70+ years that I enjoy watching after fifteen some views. There might not be any besides this one. A mixed genre film when that wasn't common. Great pace. Great metaphors, one liners, twists, and lighting. Great motifs.

"As Time Goes By" is one of these: a key piece of the story, a well built and utilized motif.

It is a symbol of their love.

Rick told Sam to never play it again, but when Ilsa returns, so must the song. It morphs and reforms into variations throughout the movie, but it's there in its core: not the only song in the film but surely one of the most important motifs established.

Ya bro. I am watching old classic movies, its really had a fun and motivation

I dig em. Great way to connect with the past too.

I love that film!

More memorable lines in there than in any other film.

For example, "Round up the usual Cryptos," "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful token," and my fave, "We'll always have Steemit!"

Seriously though, that scene you succinctly describe at the end of your evocative piece, is golden, for the reasons you say.

Also, noone does close-ups like Ingrid Bergman. She says everything, apparently doing nothing.

She swims into the scene, and simply lingers in the moment, which still seems to linger, as time goes by, as you say.

Cheers. :)

Great dialogue, indeed.
Agree on Ingrid.
