"Lucifer" A charming devil...
The adaptations of comics to the small screen are becoming more frequent. After the success that the Fox chain obtained last season with Gotham, its leaders decided to order a new series based on another DC comic, Lucifer.
Although several versions of the Prince of Darkness have passed through DC's almost 80-year history, this Warner Bros. series is based on the one created by Neil Gaiman for his series The Sandman, and later developed by Mike Carey in the eponymous series.
The actors for the series are pretty well chosen. Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer, will not be David Bowie, but he is credible as the charming gentleman, certainly rogue and demonic. Sometimes overacting, but suitable for the role even at such times. The other protagonist, Lauren German, who gives life to Detective Chloe Decker, also does a good job, although it is a slightly softer version than that of other small-screen detectives, such as Kate Becket of Castle or Olivia Benson of Law and order: Special Victims Unit.
The dynamics of the series reminds Castle, among other series, one of the clearest examples of series in which someone with special skills collaborates with a, or a, police detective. They also have their usual secondary characters, although the police station has no presence, among which Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen and DB Woodside as Amenadiel. The special effects are not very numerous, which is much appreciated, focusing the script more on the research and metatrama.
The series is aimed at a wide audience, because its mix of genres can make it interesting for those who see Grimm or Castle, to give two examples. It is entertaining, which can not say many series, although only snippets of some episodes leave some mark on the viewer.
