Understanding Documentary Film and its Types
There are many genres and types of movies available. Some of the most popular movie genres are action, horror, comedy or drama. Movies with genres are most often produced and performed in theaters. There is also another genre of film genres that are not lost. One is a documentary. The definition of a documentary is a film documenting the facts. In the documentary, there is no fictional story to dramatize the scene throughout the movie. That is, documentaries are used to represent reality and re-display the facts that exist in life that are made more structured throughout the duration of the film.
The term documentary film was first used in a movie Moana in 1926, precisely on February 8, 1926. Review of the film was released by Robert Flaherty. The term documentary was also used to describe all non-fiction films. This means that all the movies that tell the facts and the reality are included in this type of documentary.
Documentary films are often used as a medium of social criticism by photographing dark things in a country such as portraits of the poor or social inequalities that occur within a country. In addition documentary is also used to make a biography of a character. Popular artists, musicians and singers worldwide also often make documentaries with videos of concert and show documentation and their daily lives.
Types Documentary Films.
Biography
Contains portraits, biographies and life journey profiles of a world famous figure, can be president, minister, businessman, artist, musician, and others.
Example: Mandela, Salvador Dali, This Is It Michael Jackson
History
Contains records of historical events and events that occurred in the past, can be war, agreement, past lives and others.
Example: Triumph of the Will, Olympia I.
Investigation
Contains journalistic investigative records and investigations of a case or event under discussion with the aim of knowing deeper.
Example: The Thin Blue, The Act of Killing
Science
Contains documentary films about education and education that provide information can be from the field of science, technology, culture and others.
Example: Discovery Channel, National Geographic
Traveling
Contains full travel report footage to a particular place of interest or place of interest may be in the field of anthropology or entertainment areas only.
Example: Nanook of the North, Song of Ceylon

Good post bro keep this up, I recently seen the Diddy documentary "Can't Stop, Won't Stop: The Bad Boy Story" and I will say I didn't like it at first. It was too short for my taste, for a man like diddy and the bad boy label this needed to be a 3-4 part movie. and i felt it was misleading because the movie became the bad boy reunion tour documentary midway of the movie. The second time i did appreciated it for it was, there was cool footage of the young music mogul as well the label that gave us some of the best hip-hop and r&b artist. I didn't see to much of the struggle of Diddy and what he had to overcome to be who he is, i like seening the good and the bad and everything else around it. I think that's what makes good documentaries by telling the whole story not the one thats makes look like an all around saint. If you ever see it let me know what you think.
