Capsule Film Review: Blood of the Innocent (1994)

in #film5 years ago

In 1994 action film Blood of the Innocent (also known as Beyond the Forgiveness) Thomas Ian Griffith plays Chicago policeman determined to avenge brother who was killed by ruthless international criminals. The trail leads him to Poland where he would use all of his deadly skills to battle hordes of Russian mobsters belonging to the organisation that kills people and sells their organs. Generic plot formula, used in so many 1980s action thrillers, is transplanted into somewhat unusual settings of Poland few years after the fall of Communism. Directed by Bob Misiorowski as US-Polish co-production, Blood of the Innocent tries to stuff as much action scenes as possible while also using as much picturesque Polish locations as possible. Those efforts, aided by John Rhys-Davies, Rutger Hauer and some notable Polish actors in supporting roles, however fail because Griffith lacks talent and charisma for true action hero, making the whole film unbelievable and easily forgettable.
