The Perfect Timing

It doesn't mean that we have no regard for time per second. Don't make that mistake. Actually "we are sensitive to time as event or opportunity, once we sense where the wind is heading we move fast to catch it's drift and sail on it", it just means that, we have sense when it's time. Dr. Melba Maggay said, a social anthropologist, we measure the moments as to whether "not yet" or either "it's there", when it's "not yet", we take our time and enjoy life.

When we know that it isn't time, we just chill and relax. It's said by others "later" but also we are alert if "it's there". When it's already time and the call of the moment comes, you can see the extraordinary talents of a Filipino that is released to finish and achieve. It was said in a proverb "it maybe last and talented, it can still catch up". Because we know that we must not let the "call of the moment" get away.

In the observation of Dr. Florentino Timbreza, we Filipinos know if when to be "punctual". "The punctual excelled the hard-working" he said, "endowed with a sense of proper timing and foreseeing possible events to come, he would act at the right time." It's just important to us the "timing." You must be a good at timing. You must know how to feel.

In the mean time, while we are still weighing whether it's "already time" or "not", we transport ourselves in another dimension where we feel free to do something else." We Filipinos are fond of starting, but we did not even finish it, we are easy to get excited, at the beginning we have a lot of energy, but later on we're already losing interest. We start or join something else that is new again.

It's like we can't focus on one thing we already started with and finish it. But maybe these are just the effects of the "not yet/it's here" mindset that is buried in our culture, it's like we're holding a remote control, it's not bad for us that we change to other channels and watch other shows. We at the internet generation, we are fond of opening different websites while waiting for the other one to load.

We are used in multi tasking. The challenge is that, we must not forget to return to the browsers we opened. It is also a challenge to us not to open websites to what we can. But this is a different issue. This is not just a talk about time, we are now talking of priorities. One thing that is very important to learn especially to the youth.
