Coindesk reports that Filecoin is planning to officially launch its blockchain-based data storage network sometime near the middle of 2019.
The Filecoin roadmap was released yesterday alongside the release of demos for Filecoin’s go-filecoin protocol implementation.
Filecoin plans to launch a ‘testnet’ sometime between Q4 2018 and Q1 2019, and a ‘mainnet’ sometime in Q2/Q3 2019.
Comments
I noted the excitement around Filecoin’s blockchain file storage concept in October 2017.
The Filecoin ICO in February 2017 was notable for raising USD257m, with Filecoin attracting support from Sequoia Capital, Andreesen Horowitz, and Union Square Ventures.
Since then Filecoin has maintained a relatively low profile so news of the roadmap is a sign of life.
