A regrettable life.
An old man, laying on his deathbed.
Thinking about his life...
Filled with regrets.
Didn't bother to make any friends.
He was always a loner.
Didn't try changing his bad—self-destructive habits.
Always grumpy and unhealthy.
And now his biggest regret...
Not suiciding when he was young.
Living his life...
Oh, that is sad indeed! My thought? It's never too late to change! I believe at the last hour of his life, he will think of the things he is thankful for -- even if it is just sunrises and the sound of birds singing -- and realize his life was worth living.
Well, he was quite the grumpy man.
Unhappy almost about everything.
But perhaps, like you wrote, he in the end, will change and actually realize, that his quite long 95 years of life, were worth living and that many fail to live that long.
Maybe he will appreciate the small moments of happiness that even he had and in the last minutes of his life, he will cleanse himself of those negative thoughts and emotions and will die happy, thankful, that he actually lived his life and didn't suicide.
Oh, just noticed that this comment turned out to be way longer than the story itself, hehe...
