The Dragon's Tail

Are you ready? Sure? How do you know if you have never experienced it before, can you really understand what preparation it takes, what work you need to do in order to survive?

Humans are funny, they think they know how something is going to be before they have done it. Their expectations tell them if it will be pleasurable or taste bad, cause pain or bring happiness yet they rarely question if they are right, even though they are so often disappointed by their own achievements.

You want for things, desire things and when you get them you realise that it was not as you imagined, not what you wanted after all. It doesn't stop you from creating a new desire though does it? Why is this?

If you spent some time wondering long enough I think you would discover that your lack of contentment is based on your misunderstanding of what desires are. You think having them fulfilled is the goal but no, this is not the case.

Fulfilment of desire is an end point, a destination yet you go on unsatisfied with what you have found thus far, unimpressed by its value, unmoved by its beauty. Instead, you want more, a fancier car, a bigger house, a more beautiful partner. Satisfaction is not in your nature. You crave it, but will never know it as what you think is satisfaction is soon replaced by the appetite for more again.

Your hunger for more is both your most redeeming quality and your ugliest. It can be used to grow, develop, help, create, solve and evolve. It could create a world of plenty, one where all have enough to drink, eat and the opportunity to be their natural best, be better than their best given the possibility of technology. So much potential in this world, so much wasted.

Instead of creating a world of giving and plenty though, the hunger is used to take, optimise, control, repress and consolidate. Greed will be your downfall as you all clamber upon one another to crush those below down into becoming a stepping stone to gain just a little more height. If only you looked out from your perch you would see the destruction you have caused, all the possibility lost.

Yes, your greed comes in many forms. You think it is all about money? No, very little is about the money, it is what the money feeds that is its source, your egos. Your grossly over-inflated egos where each thinks they are worthy of special attention, worthy of more than another, more than one could ever need.

There is no volume high enough to satiate your hunger, you will deprive others to increase your collections endlessly until there is no more, no way forward and still, you will not be full. You will have it all and feel empty. What of your ego then, will you feel like you have won?

You think you know, you do not. But, one day you will understand. It will be the moment you look over all you have made and smile at the beauty, the plenty, the love. Or, the destruction, starvation and fear. Either way, you will know when you look that it is what you have created, you, and you alone.

Are you ready? You are not so I will give you advice. Hold on. I am the dragon, I am uncertainty, I am life. Today may be the day you open your eyes.

Another great post. You are so correct re egos & the need to 'climb on others'. I see it in posts on steem re "success for beginners", they read more like a how-to for wall street than a social site.
I look forward to your next post.

Steemit has two sides to it, the social and the business. Unfortunately, too many who are inept at both think they are capable ;)

What a great read! and I totally agree.. lets Hold on!

they think they know how something is going to be before they have done it

We humans have large expectations and that's why most people get disappointed alot. I believe if we set simple realistic goals, we will leave a happier life

Great article @tarazkp

Your bro Galen sent me to sub. Great post. Greetings. Be well mate.

Your post was really interesting too. Glad he messaged me about it.

I enjoy your philosophical reflections here. Subbed!

Interesting, I certainly see the point you're making and it's made well. Most often it's the nature of 'belief' which restricts us from the knowledge before us. I remember as a child I was asked what wisdom was. I responded, "Wisdom is believing in nothing yet seeking to understand everything."

"Wisdom is believing in nothing yet seeking to understand everything."

@intelvalor I like that quote a lot! And certainly, I can relate with it a ton also. :)

A great article thank you for sharing 👌

Very nice post. Great job
