Reminds me of the much less life-threatening issue of this doctor I once knew who had a leg injury and should have been on crutches but refused to use them because she didn't want to look bad in front of the patients? XD
I keep telling folks that it's better to look foolish than be foolish. Nobody ever listens, it seems.
Nobody likes looking foolish, and then they regret everything.
