*DESIRES BROADWAY* *EPISODE 2*
It's over an hour and thirty minutes, Isabel became restless at the hospital. She moved out of the room and walked down to the reception room where she met a nurse sitting at the desk. She asked her if she has seen Victor around, but the nurse replied in the negative. Perplexed, she asked the nurse to conduct a search around the hospital. The nurse alerted the doctor-in charge who gave the order for the search within the hospital's environs. The doctor dialed Victor's number, but it was switched off. The search which proved abortive was called to an end, Victor wasn't within the hospital's environment. He tried to calm Isabel who was already sobbing by now hoping Victor turned up soon. "Mrs. Campbell", he started,“I strongly suggest that you stay put in the room, you are too fragile to move around. I believe that your husband will turn up soon.” “But,”she protested,“he promised me that he would be back shortly and it's over an hour.” “Ma'am,”the doctor said,“getting worried isn't the best thing to do now. Let’s be hopeful he turns up soon.” With that he led her back to the room. Still feeling restless, she decided to get Jerry, a close friend of Victor, informed. She dialed his number,“Hello?!...Jerry, please come quickly to the hospital...Victor is missing!” “What?,”he
said at the receiving end,“Is this some kind of joke?....Don't worry, I would be there shortly.” “Thanks,”she said
gratefully before she hung up the call.
Īn a short while, Jerry got to the hospital. He got all the information he needed. He spoke to Isabel, “Please, calm down. I guess he's somewhere around town. I will just drive around for a while and I promise to return with him. Maybe he has a flat battery and that's why he's phone is switched off.” She nodded and managed to smile. Jerry left the hospital immediately in search of his friend. “Where could Victor be?”,he pondered as he drove.
After driving some kilometers away from the hospital, he saw something ahead of him along the road that caught his attention. He pulled over to the roadside and saw someone in a pool of his own blood under a tree by the roadside. He alighted from his car to get a closer look at the body. To his dismay, he recognized the body as that of Victor's. Helplessly, he carried the body into his car and drove back to the hospital. He got the doctor alerted who quickly examined the body and confirmed him dead. He advised Jerry to quickly get the police informed about the incident. The doctor pondered on how to give the sad news to Isabel, he was a close friend to the family and this made it difficult for him. He brazed himself up, walked into the room, then announced,“Mrs. Campbell your husband is here”‹‹‹‹‹›››››
