"My cloaking device." Dana muttered. The cloaking device had been a gift from Thought Admiral K'Taran for his rescue from the Romulans.
"Uh-hum," Jarius nodded, "I would like to make some changes in groundside security, and I would like your support."
"As my second officer, you've got it."
Jarius arched a brow, "You might not like them. It even includes you."
Dana frowned. "Lieutenant Commander Melvin, if I say you have my support, you do.”
Jarius took a step back and looked chagrined, “Please forgive my bruskness, but I’m not used to depending upon other people.”
“I know.” Dana replied, “But if you want to make it here, you’ll have to learn to depend on and trust this crew. We are a team, and I like to think that we are the best.” His gaze settled on Jarius, “Understood?”
“Aye sir,” Jarius affirmed as he drew himself to attention.
Dana took another look at Jarius, and then headed for his cabin door. “Very good, now let’s tell the others.”
"Full stop." Dana said as he and Jarius returned to the flight deck. When they had come to a complete stop, Dana gave a full briefing, and then turned it all over to Jarius, "Now, Jarius has something to say about Security."
"Aye sir," Jarius started, "With the captain’s permission, I have devised a new watch plan for when we are in port. There will be two people on duty at all times. One at the aft hatch and one here.” He paused, “Everyone will have their turn, Even Captain and Commander Dana and myself.”
"Understood, Commander, now set course for the Romulan neutral zone, warp four." Dana stated, "Positions please."
Under Pytor’s steady hand, the Shadow turned toward the Romulan neutral zone, while at the same time Chiako double-checked the cloaking device.
