Claudia and Sandy sat in the living room chatting as if they were old friends.  They clicked from the first minute they met and it worked out perfectly because the boys are also friends. Claudia began to tell Sandy all about their life on the farm and what a big adjustment it was for David to move to the city. Then she told Sandy about his new imaginary friend. She told her that she was worried, but Sandy assured her that it was quite normal.

Sandy poured them each another glass of wine, and nearly spilled her glass when Billy came running out of the bedroom. She could see that he was upset about something and made him sit with them on the couch.

"What is wrong Billy? Are you two not getting along tonight?"

"No, it's not David, it's Damian. Damian doesn't want me to play with them." he sounded like he was going to burst into tears, and both Sandy and Claudia felt sorry for him.

"David, you get out here young man! Both of you are going to play here with us if you can't behave yourselves in the bedroom."

They heard the door slam and suddenly David was crying.

"Perhaps it is better if we go home." Sandy said and started to gather her stuff.

"Oh please don't go. Let me just go and see what the rigamarole is about. This is not like David at all."

Claudia tried to open his bedroom door, but it seemed to be stuck.  She made sure there was no key inside so he could not have locked the door. Something else was wrong.

"You open this door immediately David! "

Claudia shouted angrily and started to panic. She could hear David crying inside and felt helpless when he eventually shouted back.

"I can't open it mom. Damian doesn't want me to."

Claudia tried to open the door once again and then indicated for Sandy to come and help her. The two of them pushed with all their might, but the door was stuck.  It felt like an invisible force was pushing the door from the other side.

Claudia was panic-stricken. She could hear her little boy crying and there was no way to get to him. Sandy told Claudia to move and she kicked open the door. The door flung open and they saw David sitting in the corner crying. The rest of the room was quiet. It was only David sobbing and when he saw her, he stopped crying and ran to her.

"Damian is a meanie mom.  He doesn't want me to have other friends. He doesn't want Billy to be here."

"No David. It is time that we get rid of Damian. He is not a good friend and you have Billy now who is a real friend."

"But Damian is real mom...I'm not lying...even Billy knows...tell her Billy, tell her please."

David sounded desperate and started crying.

Claudia turned towards Billy and shook her head.

"Billy, please tell David that Damian is not real."

Billy shook his head and pointed towards the bed.

Both Sandy and Claudia turned their heads and Claudia was just in time to move out of the way when a book came flying across the room and fell on the floor next to her.

Claudia felt that familiar eerie feeling and told everyone to get out of the room while she grabbed David and pulled him out the room. She closed the door behind her and saw the other two standing in the living room.

"You can't stay here tonight. You should come over to our place."

Claudia quickly grabbed a few things for herself. Tomorrow was the first day at her new job and this was definitely not the way she wanted it to start. Sandy packed the food into a basket and within minutes everyone was on their way downstairs.

"What do you think that was Sandy?" Claudia asked still sounding quite panicked.

"I don't know but whatever it was, it wasn't friendly."
