"Mom, how are you feeling?"

"It's all right, my dear daughter."

Such a quiet and tired voice.

"Mom, try to rest today."

"But you know that we need money."

"But if you go, it’ll be bad for you!" Siala broke into a cry, but then stopped, "Sorry, don’t go to the square today, please."

"Oh, Siala ... Okay, I’ll be weaving at home. But tomorrow I'll go."

Mother slowly sat down at the table, leaning on it with both hands. The bruises beneath her gray eyes seemed painted with soot. Hands shook while fingering the fiber. Siala exhaled, kissed her mother's wrinkled forehead and left the house.

The sky was covered with heavy clouds. The air was filled with the smell of wet dust. The girl quickly walked through the puddles, thinking about the fact that the autumn provides them with money because of the need for the cloaks that the mother is weaving. And when the summer comes, she won’t be able to go out into the garden and grow vegetables. The disease gradually kill her, and expensive drugs each time help weaker.

With these hard thoughts, the elf girl rushed into the house, where she was able to earn quite a lot. And this would be enough for a good life, if her mother wasn’t sick. Quickly taking off her old boots and dressing the servant slippers, Siala went into the back room.

"Hello, Mrs. Lilith."

"Hello, my girl," the cook answered without turning around, putting on her apron. "How's old Satina today?"

"She’s almost fine" the girl answered smiling, taking off her clothes.

"It's good. I hope that she won’t go on the square today, it's too cold today, no matter how much worse it is."

Lilith turned to the girl and looked at her with her kind blue eyes. Siala gathering her blonde hair in a bun, and holding a hairpin in her teeth, waved her head:

"No, she won’t go. I asked her, "she said, punching her hair.

"Very good, I'll try to leave you some food for dinner. Come to me, once you are done with your job."

"Very well, Mrs. Lilith. Thank you."

Lilith went into the kitchen, and Siala went to another door leading to the hall of a huge aristocratic house. She loved these emerald curtains on the windows, these velvet carpets on the floors and steps. They didn’t look too fanciful and flashy. The warm colors of the house her you feel cozy and secure. The girl climbed the steps to the second floor. Today she has to clean up the library. With what pleasure she would read all these books, and study these maps. How much knowledge is stored here, for which she sadly doesn’t have time.
