Food Fight Friday - I hope I'm not late... there's braising at stake!

in #fff6 years ago (edited)

I hope I'm not late. I know technically it's the early hours of Saturday here, but I'm pretty sure Mr @foodfightfriday lives about seven hours behind me. Sod it, I'll see if I can sneak this one in…. Shhh!

I've been swamped at work the last few days.

So I haven't been there to help wifey (aka My Gorgeous) in the kitchen. She does amazingly without me though. Moving around the kitchen like a whippet, getting things done real quick.

Today My Gorgeous whippeted up this…

Braising stake casserole, crushed potatoes and peas.

Ingredients:
Braising stake casserole - this consisted of meat, veg and a delicious tasting liquid. I don't know what else to tell you. I wasn't there to see what wifey did.… Umm, I mean, it's a secret recipe! Shhh!

Boiled-crushed-seasoned-baked potatoes - These are kinda self-explanatory but try saying 'Boiled-crushed-seasoned-baked potatoes' with a mouth full of melted ice cream! - Let me know if it's fun. 😁

Peas - You know, those little round green things you usually find rattling around in the bottom of the freezer drawer.

There it is…

Or Was!... Mmmm, delicious!

That's what we had today… uh, yesterday... well Friday 3rd August, when ever that is/was for you.

So there you have it, my entry for #foodfightfriday round umm… what ever round we're on this week.

I'm knackered now so I'm off to do the washing up and get some shut eye before it's time to start work again. What on a weekend? - Yeap! Playing catch up still 😢

Thanks for looking!

Regards and best wishes - @sivehead

That looks good - a little like a deconstructed stew.

Yeap, you can call it deconstructed stew if you like! I was hoping to make it sound posh calling it a casserole. 😁 All I know is it was damn tasty.

Thanks for your visit @boboxer

Never too late for an @sivehead arrival. The pharaoh wants you to go in a little early.

Thanks @dandays. The pharaoh, lol. That must be me... I'm my own boss! Or self-employed if you like. But the work still needs to get done!

Looking good and I especially like the part where your wife cooked it so you wash it up. 👏. Those are the house rules, if I make it, you got the dishes and vice versa.

Side note: what does “sod it” mean? I can just duck duck go it but where is the fun in that… anyway, nice entry sir.

Yeap... that's the rules here. Wifey cooks, I clean up. But damn can't she make a mess sometimes 😂

"Sod it" - a polite way for me to say 'fuck it' (as in - I don't care!) - hoping not to offend anyone with questionable language. See #2 here

Thank for your visit @puravidavilla

@dandays says the same to me “you wrecked the kitchen”. Haha. The messier it is the better the meal tastes.

Sod it… maybe I’ll start using it. Ha. No sweat @sivehead, until next Friday then.

Looks temptingly delicious, @sivehead. You are very fortunate to have a wife who cooks such wondrous fare. It's been a joy in my life to eat good food because both my mother and my wife cook so well.

I'm wondering about something. I believe what you're calling a casserole appears to be on the right hand side of the plate, and what you're calling liquid looks like some kind of gravy.

Since you cleaned off your plate, were you allowed some dessert, like a strawberry-rhubarb pie perhaps? Or was the pea it? :)

Yes the casserole is on the right, and the liquid is the stock that the braising stake and veg is cooked in.

Oooo, strawberry-rhubarb pie... that sounds scrumptious but sadly no. It was because I left the pea I wasn't allowed dessert 😥

Sounds pretty harsh there, @sivehead! But since my wife doesn't allow dessert of any kind (unless I sneak it, which really isn't her allowing it, is it?), I don't leave much behind, even peas. So, there's that. :)

Yes!!! That is what I like to see!! The food ol’ food disappearing magic trick!!
Now you see this delicious, steaming, flavorful plate of food....

Now you see it now you don’t
MUAHAHAHA

Oh yes, it disappeared real quick. All except for that last pea... I thought I'd save it just in case somebody needed one 😁

Hey @sivehead, maybe you can help me out. I notice you use pixabay for your images. I recently was explained the images I search and find on DuckDuckGo aren’t necessarily legal. Pixabay was one of the sites that was suggested to me.

When I went there, it seemed real limited, do I have to register or something? Is that your house image source?

Watcha know man, watcha know? Thank you.

DuckDuckGo... never been there myself. I'm not totally sure but I believe as long as you link to the source, you're good.

But Yes @dandays, pixabay is my usual go to. On the odd occasion I also look on http://unsplash.com. Or if you go to Google Chrome's desktop version, to go the Image tab, along the top you can select - tools>useage rights> labeled for reuse.

If I can't find what I'm looking for in one of those places, I usually burst in to tears, stamp my feet, shout 'Why me!' in the most whiny voice possible, then try and think of a different pic to use.

Hope that helps! I😁

So i need to ‘sign up’ then? I’m assuming by registering over there at pixabay I’ll have a much larger inventory to choose from. Is that how it works.

Oh dude, give DuckDuckGo a shot. I need to stop using it for image searches but for everything else it’s my go to. All the info the internet has to offer but unlike google and those other search engines, DuckDuckGo doesn’t track you.

I'll have to check DuckDuckGo out... no tracking that's Awesome!

I did sign up with pixabay, but to be honest I don't think it gave me any extra access. It just means you can use their app and upload and share pic too. I rarely log in though. I just search the pics I'm after, if they don't have it, i go else where.
