The Man Mountain—A Tall Tale For The Five Minute Freewrite
Once, I met a basketball player when he was a Golden State Warrior. He was so huge, he looked like a smiling house. When he first started playing, he was rather unrefined. He was a crazy man, like a scorned woman throwing dirty dishes, paperback books, and a shoe. His hair was so wild, my grandfather said it looked like he'd parachuted into a big wave of Nazis during World War II.
He did have a penchant for bending the truth, though. He owned a rare breed of goats that he would try to blame things on, like his tardiness to practice. One time he told the coaches, "The goat ate my light bulb. That's why I didn't hear the alarm go off."
He was also color blind. He used to have a friend describe green to him. That was always good for a laugh because how can you describe a color without using another color? It wasn't long before the friend quit trying.
This mountain of a man no longer plays in the NBA thanks to a mishap involving twins. It's a delicate situation, so I probably shouldn't get into it.
I miss that guy. He was a ridiculous amount of fun.

This post is a part of the five minute freewrite. Once again, I took several prompts and incorporated them into a small story, 18 in all. The phrases and single word prompts used are italicized throughout the story and used in the order given.
Really impressive... 18 prompts in one freewrite... I have not watched NBA for a long long time. I am still stuck at the Chicago Bulls Jordan time and LA Lakers Kobe Bryant time... 😅😅😅
Thank you for freewriting with us! Here's the prompt:- Day 499: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: meat and gravy.
Thanks again! With love and hugs.

Well, thank you, @elizacheng, for the kind words and the freewrite prompt.
I don't watch a whole lot of NBA games myself, and don't tend to get that interested until the playoffs begin, but if you're going to keep track of particular eras, Jordan with the Chicago Bulls and Kobe Bryant and the Lakers with Shaquille O'Neil are some of the best times (in the more recent past) to remember. I don't know if the league has got better or worse over time. I think it's mainly that the caliber of players across the league has equalized to the point where it's harder to stand out, but you still have players like LeBron James who can take over a game much like Michael and Kobe did.
haha! howdy sir Glen! Now that takes some skill to work that many prompts into a story! And an entertaining story at that, well done.
I'm just trying to keep myself entertained, @janton. :)
I appreciate the kind words, though. Need some kind of a challenge, which also equates to something worth writing (and thus reading). I don't know if that always translates, but I guess if I'm okay with it when it's finished, that's what matters. :)
Yes sir Glen, even if you can just be on here to write and practice your craft then it's worth it, I agree. You can practice on us! lol.
I'm really trying to figure this one out. It's not Latrell Sprewell, because the stories don't match. I'm gonna try to figure it out and will be back for another guess.

Hey, @jeanlucsr.
Well, you're welcome to keep on guessing, or I could just tell you that the story is completely made up, based on the list of five minute freewrite prompt words I used. With the first word being Warrior, the basketball team was the first to come to my mind, so I went with it. The rest fell into place. :)
As it is, I was kind of using Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder as a model. :)
Haha.. so I was never going to be able to guess that one 😅.
All searches for NBA players with twin related stories came up empty. That made finding this fictional player the hardest 😂😂..
Was a fun read 👍.

Hi there, good to be back here. Back in my time at Dubai, I still remember I saw basketball players many times, mainly from US and they all were too huge, I guess it's a game of super tall humans only
Hey, @hananali.
Yeah, for the most part, you need to be pretty tall to play professionally. Every once in a while there's someone who's under 6 foot, but they're generally really quick and fast, shoot well, and may be able to dunk anyway. As far as I know now, most NBA players are well over 6 feet tall.
Yeah, that's true. I am 6' and I remember young boys team of basketball going past me and I could clearly see a big height upgrade on their side lol As tall and quick you are as good a player you can be
I did not know why basketball players are always huge
